Outfitting a new location on a timeline: a sequencing guide

The furniture and equipment for a new location almost never open late because a product was unavailable — they open late because ordering and installation weren't sequenced against the construction schedule. Lead times, delivery windows, and install crews all have to line up with the moment the space is actually ready. Here's the order of operations that keeps an opening date intact.

Start specifying before the space is finished.

The biggest scheduling mistake is waiting until construction is done to think about furniture. Contract furnishings often carry lead times of several weeks to a few months, so the specification and ordering has to happen during the build, not after. The earlier the package is locked, the more of the lead time overlaps with construction instead of stacking on top of it.

Sequence the order around construction milestones.

The details that protect the date:

Sequencing sourcing, delivery, and installation against the construction timeline is the difference between opening on schedule and slipping a month. Managing that coordination — nationwide, as a single point of contact — is the core of what we do.
